At Nature’s Blends, we obtain our Raw Chestnut Honey from sunny gardens nestled in the lap of Mount Pelion in northern Greece. The scenic Pelion ranges were named after Peleus, the father of Achilles and are said to be home to the Centaurs.
Chestnut honey is rich forest honey packed with antioxidants, pollen content, minerals, and tannin. It also contains beneficial compounds that have major rejuvenating and anti-inflammatory properties. Because of its unique content, this raw herbal honey heals, nurtures, and strengthens the body from within - and tastes amazing while at it!
The complex, distinctive, and mouthwateringly delicious taste makes raw chestnut honey the perfect choice for healthy salads, meat dishes, roasted vegetables and a wide variety of cheeses and desserts.
Raw chestnut honey has two species, one light-colored from the flower and one dark amber color from the seed. The darker the honey is, the richer its taste. Let’s look at this honey and its unique health benefits in detail

Chestnut honey by Nature’s Blends is sourced from Sweet Chestnut trees (Castanea Sativa) that grow on the soft slopes of Mount Pelion (aka Pelium) in Thessaly, northern Greece. The stunning mountain ranges form a hook-like peninsula between the Aegean Sea and Pegasitic Gulf. Our raw honey is harvested from chestnut orchards dotting the lap of these fertile ranges.
The sweet chestnut tree or Castanea Sativa is a common sight in the northern hemisphere - but it was first brought over to Europe from Sardis (present-day Turkey) via Greece thousands of years ago
Chestnut trees belong to the same botanical family as beeches and oaks. They are resilient, nectar-producing trees with strongly scented flowers that attract a lot of honeybees. The tree blossoms during summer months (May-June) which is when most of the pollination occurs.
Raw chestnut honey by Nature’s Blends is a rich monoflower one seed honey, meaning the bees gather nectar only from sweet chestnut blooms. This gives our honey its unique flavour and nutrient profile.
Raw chestnut honey is rich in a variety of vitamins, minerals, tannins, and natural antioxidants. Its also rich in pollen content, which helps strengthen our immunity. Moreover, its unique profile has given this raw honey anti-inflammatory and anti-septic properties.
While all types of raw honey are great for your health, forest honeys like chestnut honey are richer in antioxidants and health-supportive compounds. Because of its therapeutic and soothing properties, chestnut honey was commonly used for medicinal purposes in the past.
